| My son was about 12 years old on one of our many visits to Disneyland. We always had a tradition of one last Mickey hug before we left the park each day. So that meant going back to Toontown no matter how tired I was. Well, this one time, it was very late, and Toontown was closed for the night and Mickey was no where in sight. As we headed towards the exit, I thought if I bought my son one last special item from the park, it would make him feel better because he was now crying...12 years old and he is crying...and loud...The gal behind the counter (Cast Member) wondered what was wrong, so I told her. My son, Jimmy, needed one last Mickey hug and he was upset that he didn't get one. The next thing I knew, she was walking around from behind the counter, went right up to Jimmy and asked him if she could give him a hug in Mickey's place. Well, he abruptly said "NO"!...He embarrassed me, and shocked this very nice Cast Member. I felt so bad for her. She was trying to do something nice, but my son would have no part in it. He is now 23...and a little bit more mature. Some days are seriously questionable! We still go to Disneyland, but now, one hug during the whole trip is all that he needs. I on the other hand? Can never get enough of those great "Mickey Hugs"!!!! ºoº |
