| Our family took a trip to Estes Park, Colorado one year. It was my husband and I and our 2 1/2 year old son. We decided to go hiking at the Rocky Mountain National Forest. We packed up the car with snacks and everything we would need for the day and headed to our destination. When we arrived I went to get our son out of the car seat. He didn't have his shoes on. I looked all over the back seat for them. My husband was getting frustrated. I assured him I put them on him. After searching the entire car I looked at our son who was still in the car seat and said "Where are your shoes?" He spoke loud and proud in his little two year old voice with a big grin on his face and said " I threw them out the window mama. No spankings mama No spankings." I couldn't believe it. We headed back about 4 miles away and managed to find one shoe, but not the other one. Of course he wouldn't throw them out at the same time. Our day of hiking was postponed a bit. We had to go buy a new pair of shoes for him. We laugh about it now and love to tell the story to others. I can't wait until my son is grown and I can tell him the story.
