| It is tough trying to find a quality place to stay that is affordable when away from home. We have all had experiences of staying a a motel or inn while traveling which we would like to forget.
Our son and his family live a considerable distance from us, even though it is still in the same state. Their home is small, yet comfortable, but sleeping arrangements are less than desirable. And, trying to get ready with only on bathroom is a nightmare. How did people do it years ago?
Recently, we traveled to their town in northern Missouri to attend our grand-daughter's first birthday. Also, going was my elderly parents, by other son, and us. The in-laws and family members from another part of the state were also going to be there too. Since we were all going to be staying overnight, do so at my son's house was not an option. We rented multiple rooms at the local America's Best Value Inn. Yes, we had a few more options of were to stay, one a nationally recognized chain that was comparable in price, and the another which was much more expensive. Having stayed at this America's Best Value Inn before, we knew that not only was the price right, but it was clean and comfortable place to stay. Plus, they offered a free continental breakfast making it a good value.
The weekend turned out to be memorble and one no one would have wanted to miss. We all watched as she celebrate her first birthday, the excitement she displayed at opening her gifts and just having all of us there. She has her way of looking at you, wrinkling up her nose and squinting her eyes and making a ou sound that just tugs at your heart. When it came time for her first cake and ice cream, well let me say, she wore as much as she ate. The pictures are priceless. The pictures allow us to revisit that day that are etched in our memory. We are blessed that my parents, her great-grandparents, were there with us along with other family.
After the party, and later that evening we all returned to the motel, to our own rooms, for a good nights sleep. We awoke the next morning to attend Church services with them before returning home that afternoon. Even though, we see them often, we are looking forward to traveling back along with other family members for more memorable family events. |
