| When my husband 3 children and myself went to visit my brother and his family they insisted that we stay with them instead of paying for a Hotel. Once we arrived my brother offered to take us out on the lake in his very old boat. We got several miles from the dock when his boat motor died. After several attempts to restart it failed, he decided to attempt rowing with one ore against the wind back to the dock, of course we got nowhere. We eventually worked our way to the shore where my husband and I had to walk for several miles back to the dock to get help. Once we finally got the boat back to the dock my son (7 yrs old), attempting to help unload the boat, picked up my brother's tackle box which was unlatched and dumped the entire contents into the lake.
After the long drive, long walk and stressfull evening we decided to call it a night and everyone went to bed. All the kids and my brother and his wife were in the bedrooms upstairs. My husband and I were on a leaking air mattress on the floor downstairs in the toy room. In the middle of the night I woke up needing to use the bathroom. It was then we discovered that my brothers loving dog Sandy turns into KUJO at night. Every time I tried coming out of the room the dog was sitting in the hall between me and the bathroom growling and baring his teeth at me so I had to wait till my brother got up that morning to use the bathroom. I then asked if it was ok if I went ahead and showered while I was in the bathroom. I was given the ok. As I was coming out of the bathroom my sister in law stoped me and asked what towels I used. She then began scolding me for using the incorrect towels; the ones I was supposed to use were in the laundry room on the dryer! Hello!! Put the towels you want people to use in the bathroom where they shower or tell them before they get in the bathroom where they should get the towels from!!
When I went to put my shoes on we found that the dog had eaten one of my shoes and pooped into the other shoe. (I really hate that dog!!)Unfortunately it was the only pair I had brought.
I was now exhausted from not getting any sleep, angry for being scolded about towels and shoeless so I couldn't go anywhere.
The final straw came as the group was walking out the door (leaving me alone with KUJO) to go up to the park then to the dollar store to pick me up a pair of shoes. My sister in law hollars to me as shes walking out the door "make sure you wash and put away all the dishes."
Needless to say although I love my brother dearly we have not been back to their home since. They come to visit us often but keep asking when we are coming back there to visit them. I am running out of excuses!!! |
