| My brother and his family surprised us last Thanksgiving by driving down from New Jersey to spend six glorious days with us! He brought along their brand new puppy, Midge (which wasn't housebroken) and Smitty their calico cat. They know full well that my oldest daughter is allergic to cats but they swore up and down that they woud keep the cat in their bedroom and not let it out.
Long story short, they let the cat out to roam our house the first day that my husband and I were at work and my girls were in school.
That night, my daughter broke out in hives and had trouble breathing. The next morning we were at the doctor's and my brother was at a vet's boarding Smitty! Several days later, Midge managed to find a small bag of M&M's that my youngest daughter had on her nightstand and ate them, bag and all, then she threw up and left a trail of diarrhia all over the house.
They were at Universal Studios on the day it happened and I came home to the mess! I barfed while cleaning it up. I did the best I could and called a carpet cleaner to sanitize the carpets and furniture. I presented my brother with the bill! I then made it clear to him that Midge was to stay on our enclosed porch until they went home. I also suggested that they leave their pets at home the next time they came for a visit.
I don't think that they will be coming back very soon. |
